Fuel Oil and its Combustion:
Fuel Oil commonly known as Furnace Oil, Heavy Fuel Oil, Residual Fuel Oil consists of Crude Distillation Bottoms, Asphaltene, Sulfur, Sodium, Vanadium, Nickel, Water and other Ash components.
For burning such Fuel Oil, following Additives are required:
- To keep the Storage Tank through Burner clean and reduce Sludge, Fuel Oil Dispersant is required. (AX-6010)
- To combust the heavy ends of Fuel Oil, Combustion Catalyst such as Iron, Calcium, Cerium, and Manganese are required. (AX-6020)
- To reduce the high temperature Deposits and Slagging use of Magnesium Additive is required. (AX-6030)
- To reduce Cold End Corrosion due to Sulfur, use of suitable Magnesium Additive is required.
Normally the use of Fuel Additives pays for itself.
Amtek Research offers complete range of Fuel Oil Additives to solve above mentioned problems related to combustion.
Aqueous Fuel Oil Additives & Fuel Oil Emulsification:
Aqueous Fuel Additives: Amtek Research specializes in the formulation and supply of Aqueous Fuel Additives for improving combustion reducing deposit and SO3. The Additives are injected into the Fuel line or directly into the Furnace depending upon the requirement.
The Additives are:
AX-2710-Combustion Improver for Fuel Oil
AX-2720- Combustion Improver for Coal
Fuel Oil Emulsification Plants:
Amtek Research offers compact Fuel Oil Emulsion Plants for use in Steam Plants, Power Plants and Oil Refineries burning Residual Fuel Oil.
In Fuel Oil Emulsification Plants 10-15% water is emulsified into the Fuel Oil. The Fuel Oil Emulsion combusts completely resulting in Fuel Oil saving of ~5% NOx reduction to the extent of water emulsified (10-15%) and clean combustion chamber.
Please ask for FOE-Plants Bulletin.
Coal and its Combustion:
Main constituents of Coal are Fixed Carbon, Volatile Matter, Moisture and Ash.
Coal is burned in Fixed Grate (less than 50 mm), Stoker(less than 12 mm), Fluidized Bed (less than 8 mm) and Suspension Fired (Pulverized Coal ~0.075 mm) Boilers.
Major Problems during Coal combustion arise due to high Carbon and Sulfur content and high Fe, Na and K in the Ash
Poor combustion results in the emission of Unburned Carbon, SO3 plume, Slag / Deposit on the heat exchange surfaces, formation of Clinker on the bed (in Grate Boiler) and back end corrosion.
Above problems can be very easily solved by adding Coal Additives to Coal prior to feeding in to the furnace.
Normally Coal Additives consist of Oxidizers, Deposit Inhibitors and SO3 Neutralizers. Regular usage of Amtek Research Coal Additive (AX 7020) results in Coal Saving and Clean Boiler and Cleaner Environment.
Flash Cleaning of Boilers:
Sometimes for flash cleaning of Furnace, Chemical Soot Remover is used.
Amtek Research offers totally safe Soot Remover which is periodically injected into the furnace (AX 7010).
Biomass and its combustion:
Biomass are characterized by the presence of Ca, K, Si , P and Cl in the Ash.
Due to this, various types of corrosion and deposit problems are faced during the combustion of Biomass. In Biomass fuel S/Cl ratio is much less than Coal. Bio fuels are high in Na + K than coal. Due to these reasons, corrosion is a major problem in Biomass Boilers.
Normally there are four types of Biomass Fuels such as:
- Biomass with high Calcium and Potassium such as woody mass.
- Biomass rich in Silica such as Rice Husk and Bagasse.
- Biomass rich in Calcium, Potassium and Phosphorus such as Sunflower Stalk.
- Biomass stalk is rich in Potassium and Chlorine such as Cereal (Wheat & Rice) stalk.
Above fuels need different types of Additives to avoid the problems of high corrosion and deposits on the heat exchange surfaces.
Amtek Research has a range of solid and liquid fuel Additives to combat above problems.
AX-7020 (H): Husk Additive
AX-7020 (S): Straw Additive
Petcoke and its combustion:
Petcoke is characterized by high Carbon (>70%) and Sulfur (~7%) and low Volatiles, Moisture and Ash. Due to this reason high Excess Air and SOx Neutralizer are required for proper combination.
Amtek Research offers good Petcoke Additive to overcome above problems.
Product: AX-7020 (P)
