Combustion Improvers
Combustion Improvers are available in powder or liquid form for spray over the coal before the grinder or pulverizer. This way of adding the additive ensures thorough mixing of additive into the coal.
The liquid coal additive is more effective because it penetrates into the coal and goes straight into the fire zone. The powder additive has got a tendency to go down with the ash.
The combustion additives are added continuously into the coal at the recommended treat rate. Powder and liquid feeding systems are available for feeding the additives.
Combustion catalysts catalyze the combustion of unburned carbon by reducing the ignition temperature.
Combustion Catalysts also catalyze the combustion of volatile matters, which are poly aromatic hydrocarbons.
Due to above reasons deposits are reduced and heat transfer areas remain clean.
Combustion catalysts have been known to break the moisture into OH and H ions. The OH ions combine with Carbon to form CO, which in the presence of oxygen burns to CO2.
The overall effects of using combustion catalysts in coal are as follows:
- Reduction in smoke, particulate matter and smut.
- Reduction in deposits on combustion surfaces.
- Reduction in exhaust temperature.
- Reduction in excess air and oxygen.
- Increase in efficiency, steam to fuel ratio and reduction in fuel consumption.

- Combustion catalyst for coal in powder form
- Combustion catalyst for pet coke and coal with sulfur over 5%.
- Liquid combustion catalyst for spray over coal.
